Exposed cabinets have always been appealing to me, especially in small kitchens that lack a distinct focal point. By removing a few doors, your dishes and cooking accessories instantly become a collection of art. And for those who rent, creating an open shelf display is a great way to (temporarily) update your kitchen—for free!
Last week, a friend of mine had an extra ticket to a Martha Stewart show taping and asked if I’d be interested in coming along. Umm hell to the yes?! was my reaction. I can’t say that I’ve ever really been a fan of Martha (although I do love her wrapping paper line), but figured it’d be a fun way to spend the morning. Plus I wanted to see what all the Martha fuss was about!
Cobalt (or royal) blue has to be one of my favorite colors, both in fashion and decorating settings. The rich tone works well year-round, and has a sophisticated yet fun feeling. I’m not sure I have the nerve to paint a whole room cobalt blue, yet I love the idea of incorporating the color into my life with clothing and smaller home accessories.
Every once in a while you’ll come across a company that really seems to get you. For me, such is true with Alice Supply Co., whose brightly hued housewares were created from the “concept of taking mundane household items and giving them a little personality.” Um did they make this brand especially for moi??!
I’m currently taking a few interior design courses, one of which assigned the task of measuring my entire apartment (in anticipation of creating a digital floor plan). Easy enough, right? Only problem was that I didn’t own a tape measure…err to Home Depot I go!
